Dave Gutierrez has just completed his first year of coaching at the collegiate level, and he brings plenty of experience to the table. The Lancaster High School History teacher has spent over 25 seasons coaching at the high school and junior high level. Starting in 1996, Gutierrez coached both boys' and girls' volleyball at Canyon HS in Canyon Country, CA. While there he won a league championship with the boys and had numerous top ten finishes. In addition he led both of his teams to several first place finishes at various area tournaments.

Gutierrez next took over at Lancaster High School (Lancaster,CA) in 2005 and found more success. He won two league championships with the girls—the first volleyball championships in school history. In addition to   his success at the high schools, he has coached local area club teams in Santa Clarita (Santa Clarita Athletic Club, Synergy) and the Antelope Valley (Antelope Valley Volleyball Club, aka AVVC). This is his fifth year with AVVC where he has coached 16's and 18's. He has also spoken recently at the LA84 Volleyball Coaches Clinic.

At The Master's College, Gutierrez was looked upon to oversee the volleyball strength program. He is interested in teaching biomechanics and technique to help improve athletes’ success.
